Newbie - rebuild questions

Hello again everyone,

Well so far I have stripped the defender down to a rolling chassis, and got rid of the V8 and g'box, everything is now rustproofed and undersealed, all the panels are undersealed and stone chipped.

I have started re-assembling the back end with re-sprayed panels and new set of standard lights.

My questions really relate to the gearbox. I want to put a 200tdi in as they are plentiful and quite cheap, however can I use a R380 gearbox, is it just a case of bolt the gearbox to the transfer box and then bolt the whole lot to the engine?

I thought about the R380 as I've been told it is smoother than the Lt77, please correct me if I'm wrong here  :P

Next question is sound deadening, I really want to make the defender a quiet place to be if possible, can anyone recomend a type of sound proofing, I'm not really looking to spend massive amounts on this around £100-£150.

Well that's all I can think of at the moment!

I think you will need to modify the bulkhead and fit different floors and tunnel if you use the R380 box.
