I would use 1.2 or 1.5mm to repair body panels (try bending 2mm round the curve :shock: ) and 2mm for the anchor unless this is salvagable?? as they are a pressed shape
Leave the 4/8mm to build a skip :dance: :dance:

least 4mm for stress points i would go for always less than 3mm for bodywork

At the end of the day. It doesnt matter what thickness you weld to it. Its still only as strong as the thickest material around it. 1.5 to 2mm will do just fine.
