steering part question

(1/1)

andrew2986:
Hi all,
what is the proper name for the long steering rod that goes between the front wheels, is it a drag link ?
its the one the steering damper bolts to.
proper bent mine when at woodlands last, straightened it with the winch and a trolly jack, but really need to replace it.

Cheers

Andy

Hightower:
Bar from steering box/arm to wheel is a drag link
Bar from wheel to wheel is track rod

I think . . . . . .

Jimbo:
The one at the front is the track rod, the one behind the axle is the drag link.

Seeing as I'm going to replace it anyway, is it worth fitting a stronger one?  any suggestions ? might well move the damper to the front with a wizard kit. gets it out of the way... what do you all think?

Yes, well worth it on both counts!

I fitted the damper relocation from Wizard 1st, and it really is a simple effective piece of kit, I then went to Sumo bars which again are great! I did bend one  but I got in touch and they replaced with no questions or quibbles.

There is some talk about not needing the damper if you have uprated bars, but I disagree, you do need it!
