pikey stealing prevention
Graham2:
There are loads of ways of immobilising a vehicle. A cut out switch that cuts the power to the fuel pump or coil is easy enough to sort out. With the switch well hidden, it would take a thief (house or caravan dweller) quite a while to work out what was wrong.

i like your way of thinking bush tucker man!
anyone nicking a vehicle in broad daylight surely must have some pikey in the family tree somewhere so it not totally a wild assumption!
some sort of switch to the fuel pump may be the way forward. how big are the tracking devices?
i have heard about a device that prevents the clutch from operating, any body used one of these?
Mark_Solesbury:
Thats what i was on about - its called a clutch claw.
massive lump of yellow metal that fits over the clutch and break pedal - idea being that the clutch and brake work as one.
--- Quote ---Clutch Claw
The NoiseKiller Clutch Claw has achieved wide acclaim from the motoring press, and has been chosen by Scottish Office and City Mex to protect their LCV commercial fleets.
In attack tests carried out by FAST CAR Magazine using a professional car thief, the Clutch Claw resisted attack for 30mins and 58secs - almost twice as long as it's nearest Thatcham approved rival.
Most mechanical security devices rely on restricting the steering wheel from being turned and most are overcome in seconds by attacking the wheel not the device.
The Clutch Claw locks the clutch and the brake pedals together, thus stopping the vehicle from being driven. The new "Mark 4" Clutch Claw uses a series of pegs located under the top box, these are adjustable along the length of the top box. Once the pegs are set the device becomes "dedicated" to that vehicle, locking the two pedals together and "jamming" them against the bulkhead/floor of the vehicle. The Clutch Claw does not require any additional "bolt on" brackets.
The Clutch Claw will fit virtually all LCV's (Ford Transits, Peugeot Boxers etc.) 4 x 4's and Cars that have at least 75mm of pedal bar showing below the dash.
Noisekiller Clutch Claw is the perfect security device for all
Land Rover models.
Once the Clutch Claw is set, it can be located and locked in seconds, and is small enough to be stored under the seat. The key is not required to lock it.

Thanks.
What's that South African device that utilises a network of pipes, proximity sensors, an igniter & propane gas??
Failing that, there's always the Trunk Monkey security system
Of course he's not really a Monkey!
It'd be a bit like calling 'The Librarian' a Monkey. Ie; Painful

only 2 weeks ago i looked out my bedroom window to see 3 of them in my 110 at 2:30am
lucky my mrs heard the back door open
shout out the window of some choice words and they were gone, ,
Ive taken the approach that i want to stop the satnav theives ie chancers and also cause as long a delay as possible
so ive gone with paddlocked back door and a carvan type secure door locks for the front. ive got a sinle shock alarm with tilt sensor so if it gets dragged onto a lorry i can hear it or some one gets in. it will at least wake me as i never leave it too far away unless it cant be helped.
Id rather them break glass or force a door than just take it away. police came around thou and took prints and reckon they have them on file and building up a case so if you have a minnor break in its worth reporting as your minnor one might add to a long list and get them sent away for longer.
