spare wheel mount

sirloincloth:
I bought a new spare wheel mount on ebay coz the orginal is very rusty. Incidentally the fella selling them is advertising them as Defender mounts but they're the same part as discos.

I've still got the rusty old one, and I was half wondering if you could mount it on the bonnet and have a second spare?? Is this stupid or has it been done?

If its do-able I might buy a second new mount and go for it. My only real thought was that it might get in the way of a clear view of the road ahead, especially when going down a steep drop (but you can see nowt then anyway)...

Thanks Hobbit. Read them, don't think I'll bother any further. I'll just sling a second spare in the boot with the shovel and hi-lift. Cheers

Disco Matt:
You can get a mounting to put your hilift on the spare wheel mount (with the spare wheel). Wizardbilt sells them on Ebay, very well made and at a sensible price.
