best way to move a TD5 ECU

is there a plug & play 'extension lead' available to allow moving an ecu on a TD5 Defender or is there an easy way to do it?

Hi,

Yes you can get an extension lead that just plugs in 3 meters long i think from memory.

But and it is a BUT, £300ish?

I had thought of getting one, but at that price  [-X. I have also thought of getting a second ECU programmed to my engine and carrying as a spare insted of moving, could also have one remapped and one not? Just a thought.

I reckon that a good (IP44 rated) waterproof box and loads of silicone sealant would be a cheaper option - much cheaper !!

You would need to run a 'breather' pipe from the box to somewhere, just so the box could vent - but that would only have to be a piece of small-bore plastic hose run out of the back of the seatbox and up the 'B' post.

Or...  You can mount the ECU on the rear bulkhead without changing the loom.  

If you cut two holes in the top of the seatbox, you can re-route the wiring and resite the ECU on the bulkhead between the driver and passenger seat.

Cost... nothing  ;)
