Presumably the car passed it's MOT.
BUT....
Would it have passed with a cracked plate ?
Surely if it was cracked and therefore would not have passed the MOT  (if thats the case) then that proves that it wasn't damaged when you left it with him ?

I like it!!  Then if it did pass, and he still claims it was already there, tell him youre gonna contact VOSA
