help please td5 front axel wheel bearings

(1/2) > >>

clairedave:
front bearing held on by one nut. when i changed discs i tightend as tight as possable. was this correct as old style axel had two nuts and locking washer.can you over tighten bearing as have vibration on this axel in drive and coasting, and its not prop as took it off :(

SteveG:
Did you use existing bearings again or new? If new the TD5 system needs you to fit correct shims to take out end play and then torque (new) nut to 210Nm. If old bearings then existing shims should have been fine and torquing to 210Nm should have taken any play out. Did you use a new nut?

You can always change it back to old two nut and locking washer method if you want.

Cheers

Yes and you may have now knackered new bearings. Best thing to do is replace with new bearings again and either use new method and spacers or revert back to old method.
