Series 1 - Ignition timing

Hi All,

I want to check the ignition timing but can't find any evidence of settings.

What RPM should it be set at?
Vacuum advance pipe on or off?
How many degrees BTDC on what octane?

At the moment, she's taken to pinking badly.
