The law and fuel tanks
(1/1)
mudslinger53:
Hi All, Can you help with the legal side of fitting a fuel tank behind the rear seats of a bobtailed range rover...many thanks, Dave..
mudslinger53:
Hi again, I will try and be a bit more specific, I am fitting a fuel tank between the back seats and the tailgate on my bobtailed range rover. Does the tank need to have a cover over it and does the filler pipe need covering in. I am trying to get it right before taking it for mot and being refused on this issue. Grateful for any help on this subject, Dave, Norwich.
crazymac:
Don't know where you stand MOT wise, but for scruteneering in 4x4 events these must be a bulkhead between the driver and the tank.
What most do if the tank is inside the passenger compartment is to build a box around the tank, and fit a secure filler cap. HTH?
ben_haynes:
like crazymac says yes it needs to be covered, by a flame retardant bulkhead, mine failed its MOT on this after the original sprung a leak

Thanks Lads, looks like more work to cover the tank in, still better safe than sorry. Dave..Norwich
