Guys

Can anyone point in the right direction of some desturctions on how to change the fan/alternator/pas belts on a disco1 V8, can drive it around anymore witht he sound of squelling cats under my bonnet!!!

thanks

Disco Matt:
If you have a quick rummage on the web, you can find the official RAVE CD (workshop manual used by LR dealers) as a free download. It comes as a CD image to burn to disk, and is very helpful as it has proper exploded diagrams rather than the scattering of photos in a Haynes manual.

I won't post a link as it would contravene the forum policy on software piracy, but there's a site out there with all of them!

Are you sure the belts are worn out? Mine occasionally squeak if it's damp but are silenced by a quick blast at road speeds to dry them out and rub any gunge off.

Thanks
perhaps you could pm me and point me in the right direction,

no they are slipping, when i turn the steering wheel i can see the belts stop, i have change the one on the altenator no probs but there is a belt further back that is slipping. i could live with it but its just soo loud!!

DoubleTop:
not too long ago I replaced all the ones on my Disco1 with some help from J.D. the viscous fan on mine was a nightmare.  When putting the belts back on, place the power steering one over the front reel to the middle, put onto the pas pump and then force onto the main drive.  It isn't easy, on mine the pas pump hit the block before it went down to the closest adjustment, making it very much a two person job.

If you need, I've the part numbers on my desk at work, but surprisingly enough I was able to get a full-set from Halfords and they were all the right ones.

Good luck,

DT.

Thanks
i have all the belts, just looked a nightmare to do, i only want to change the pas belt really so if i can doing it with out have to take out the viscous fan the great, that belt is nice and tight, the others have plenty of slack in them.
