They vary like mad.  I looked into it myself as well.  You can buy one that will do the job for less than £20 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pro-600ml-HVLP-Air-Gravity-Feed-PAINT-SPRAY-GUN_W0QQitemZ140244554677QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140244554677&_trkparms=72%3A636%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14  but I dont know hoe good they are.  I have brushed / rollered a few land rovers over the years.  I dont think a [!Expletive Deleted!] spray job would be worse and the roller doesnt do a bad job. 

My problem was finding somewhere to do it.  THere is a suitable compressor at work but overspray everywhere wouldnt be good.

I rollered this one after sanding with a belt sander.  Probably about 6 hours total.  It wasnt perfect but I was pleased with it!
