Swivels, how can i tell....

How can i tell if the swivels have one shot in or not, i know if i undo plug and oil pours out then it has oil in it, if nothing comes out does this mean it has one shot in or has run out of oil?  :-k

try undoing the filler and dipping something in? see what's on the end.
