off- roading in ceredigion
Disco Matt:
Hey, if it means we get to keep the right to drive the lanes I'm all for it. Dyfed Powys Police have had a marked white Defender 110 driven by a PCSO on similar duties for a while now, although I've yet to see it out on the lanes.

Matt
it seems to be parked at the start of Claerwen quite often.
I have just spoken to the FC manager for around here and there is going to be a lot more of this going on, as they are fed up of finding vehicles where they shouldn't be, so be warned.
No-one got done on this particular exercise, but several people were warned and given advise on where they could go. He understands that they had driven/riden passed notices that state no vehicles.
All FC personel now note numbers of vehicles in the Forest or parked "suspiciously" nearby, especially at weekends.

They are more likely to catch the bikes/cars etc in a plain car as it won't look out of place
Good luck to them....

Swings and roundabouts i suppose, Shouldnt a police precence be as much to deter as anything else?
does seem a bit crafty, same sort of argument as unmarked police cars. in my opinion i think they should stick to what they were originally for (undercover op's etc). have heard too many stories of irrisponsible police officers hammering these often high performance cars and then nicking anyone who has a go at keeping up.
You dont see many marked cars round these days and it leads people into thinking they are less likely to get caught pulling stupid stunts etc. get a police car on the road and all surrounding people drive like they are on their test (and are reminded of how low the speed limit actually is)

Don't get me wrong here, I think its great that there is a move to try and stop illegal and irresponsible off roading, BUT!!
If there is an officer or two parked up at the start of Claerwen quite often, where are the officers nicking the pikeys and there souped up corsas doing doughnuts and driving like idiots??
I'd be well peed off to find that other aspects of policing are falling by the wayside for what is a relatively small minority!
Drift:
We will loose all our lanes JUST because of irresponsible lane users, greenlanes are still a public highway and should be policed as such.
There are people that live on these lanes and the deserve as much a police presecents and respect as every one eles in our land,
People bang on about how police funds should be spent..farmers, and villagers also pay their taxes and deserve the same police coverage.
Do you get annoyed by the motto crosser bikes whizzing past your house.. well so do people in the country.. would you want some one ripping up your land that you use to make a living on?
If so bang you name here, I reckon we could get a crowd to turn your spuds.
The police are there to work on all our behalf
