It's a WWII film seen through the eyes of four soldiers.

there,s also the point of view that if he had succeeded in killing hitler then the third reich would have had people running it who knew what they were doing and the war would have been very different in its outcome :?

That is very true, which apparently why the Allied High Command never sanctioned an assasination.
