p38 water pump help me please !!!

hi all
water pump has died on the p38 2.5dt anyone got any ideas how i remove the fan ?? is there a speacil way of holding it so i can undo the fan?
also is it a left hand thread or right

i assume it is the same as a disco or rangie, and most Mercs or BMWs it is left hand thread and it should come undone with a few clouts from a hammer and cold Chisel
