DISCO FUEL PROBLEM

Hi can anybody help.Going down to Torquay Friday and the disco died.Over half a tank of fuel and the RAC man says its a fuel or pump problem.It was running great till it died ,also I do lots of miles so its used to the motorway.I have had it recovered to a local garage iI use They have confirmed the lift pump is Ok and now are checking the pump timing (injector).has any body had this problem.I E sudden death.How much is a pump?Its done 205000 miles I dont know if its the original pump.

does sound like lift pump or poss corrosion where the pipes come out the tank or sedimenter blocked with crud.. good luck  keep us imformed. alan..

 Might sound like a daft question, but, have you checked the stop wire under the pump? Iv'e known mechanics miss that one.

..and when was the filter last changed? any leeks (fuel)?
nip the nut loose on each injector pipe while its been turned over, this will show you if fuel getting through, could also be dead injectors - 300`s dont like red diesel (apparently) and injector failure can occur... did it feel a bit sluggish in a morning before it warmed up? - if so, check injectors!
