grumbling noise after 2" lift

(1/2) > >>

scatt:
hi guys, could do with a little advice. have fitted 2" lift and 33x12.5x15, but now have a grumbling noise coming from the front. Doesn't seem to be anything catching. just wondered if castor correction arms or adjustable panhard rod would help. any advice would be very helpful, thanks :?

Mark_Solesbury:
doubt either will help..

Panhard will only correct the axle movement left and right

I would guess at prop shaft. After a 2inch lift the angle of the UJ's will be more - if there is a dodgy one it will soon show.

scatt:
thanks for the reply mark, my 110 double cab is only just over 2 weeks old so i would hope that all the uj s are good as new, the noise isn't there all the time but its annoying. i also notice the noise on bumpy windy roads.

Mark_Solesbury:
2 weeks old, a 2inch lift and 33's

Won the lottery :)

What else can it be then.....

The way i normally find where the noise is coming from is to start taking bits off!

I still think its propshaft related... On a bumpy road, when the suspension gives the angle will change on the prop.

If you examine the prop near the UJ, is there any sign of the bits catching? especially on the bits where the UJ is.

HiFonics:
I would think propshaft is the prime candidate. My 90 was nasty to drive before I changed the front prop.

You  need a cardon jointed prop shaft here plus you will also need a flange kit to fit it on a 90 or 110 which are about £30 from a main stealer.

If you want to do it on the cheap get a Disco II TD5 front prop from a scrap yard and you will still need the flange kit.
