1996 Discovery 300TDi Affectionately known as Clover. 
Cooper Discover STT 33/12.50/R15, a 2" body lift off chassis. H/D springs with 50mm platform spacers on the rear. Nothing on the front as they foul the shocks :-) 11" travel rough country shocks and mountings with dislocating spring cones,  adjusted wheel arches, safari snorkel. H/D rear bumper, demountable drop plate,. H/D steering guard, QT diff guards.
tree sliders, Split charge running twin Optima's, spotlight bar with 4 whoppers on it, H/D winch bumper, 12,000lbs winch,  A bar with 2 50w mini spotlights, brownchurch full length roof rack. 2 work lights.CB,
Fine English engineering modified to work!

After some set backs (gear box went pop) i'm back on track
Today I brought and fitted some Old Man Emu suspension  :dance:
Here's my shopping

I fitted all the springs, shocks, rear relocation cones, front heavy duty turret rings and heavy duty spring retainers in 3.5 hours   :D
(dont you just love workshops with wind spanners and ramps   :P)





One of the things we do when fitting suspension at D44 is remove the rear bush cups from the axle's
This allows more freedom and a touch more droop travel

Today I fitted my D44 steering guard
The fitting procedure is simple.
Fit the bash plate to the bottom of the bumper using 2 of the winch fixings and the two pre drilled holes in the winch tray of my D44 bumper.
Then attach the fixing bracket to the steering guard to give you the chassis drilling points
Then drill up through the chassis and loosely attach the the bracket as shown





Now for the bash plate



The finished guard



Looks great and i'm well pleased 
Roll on the next modification   :dance:

looking good Jake - particularly like the steering guard.   

trust that you got all the same bushes in your set up!

looking back at the suspension in the previous pics the front turret looks like its at a funny angle, or is the way that im looking at it?

It does look wonky doesn't it
The other side spring was out at that point and the pictured side was not done up tight so that might be why

Today i test fitted some 35/11.5 Simex to see whether or not i'm gonna regret spending big bucks on 35" BFG's
It looked mega cool when i took it off the ramp

But the arches were a bit too close for comfort





Looks [!Expletive Deleted!] awesome though  :twisted:

It seemed pointless but i had to try it on the bank

But they rubbed on the front

and nearly killed the back doors

All in all, 35's wont be going on then  :evil:
33's will fit so i guess i could save some money here and go for a set of KL71's

I agree that it's better to stick with 33s. Less pressure on drive train/box, etc.

If more clearance was made to the arches where they currently touch would those tyres then fit OK or do the look like they would touch else where as well before you reach the limits of suspension travel?

My arch and suspension modifications are different to yours, but with 34" swampers I had more problem with of a problem rubbing on the inner rear wheel arches, rather than the outer arches.

If you are going for the kl71's then i would still get the 35's. From what i have read they are undersized a bit and they wont have the tread depth of the simex's either so this will help more.

Failing that just put a inch's worth of body lift on? You have seemed like you have been aiming to get 35's on for a while now so dont give up just yet!

I've been thinking about a body lift but i dont want to have to redesign the front bumper/steering guard (because they'd look rubbish with a gap)
There is options to redesign the arches, which might include dumping them for the proper Aussie versions and maybe even lift it another 1" using spacers...

I hear what you are saying about the bodylift and agree that the gap between the bumper and the lights can look naff, but if you get a piece of steel in the matching finish to the bumper and simply stamp D44 into it , it will be just fine and accepted as cool.   ;)

It does look good with 35's on, never the less i'd go with 33's and my choice would be kl71's.

I'll shortly be doing exactly that. I dont want to change my gearing for road use, uprate all my axle components etc just yet and I think that 35's are just too big, to heavy too everthing for a standard drivetrain.

Good luck with whatever you decided fella, love that steering guard too :)

After some deliberation and much thought i settled on a choice for the tyres.
I love Simex and always have and was gutted not to be fitting 35" Extreme Trekkers.
So i thought, instead of cutting more and bodylifting lets have a comprimise.
Jungle Trekkers  :D :dance: :D :dance:
33/11.5/16's fitted to silver 8x16 modulars









I've mounted the spare on a D44 raised spare wheel carrier

I took my alloys home from work today too
I tried to get them into the car but failed so i hooked up one of the trailors and put them in there.
Due to the new height of the car the trailor only ran on its rear wheels  :lol:

Proper cool and noisy to boot  :lol:
I'm off laning tomorrow, i'll report back on just how wonderful they are

The discovery looks good on the JTs, even if the tow ball looks to be far too high for that trailer.
Why didn't you go for a set of 34s though or would they have been too big and rubbed like the 35s?
