Prop Studs - Transfer box end

(1/2) > >>

Kenny:
Two of the studs are rotating on the flange where a slight indent has been worn on the actual flange. Someone mentioned welding the bolts onto the flange, is this wise ? At least they wont move, ever again.

karloss:
If your going to weld on that flange make sure you do it OFF the motor. The heat transfer will wreck seals, bearings, god only knows what else.

Sharpshooter:
Its ok welding them in, but dont put too much weld on them, as you may want to change them one day. Especially if you knacket the threads. :D

Eeyore:
If it was my money, or wagon, I'd just change the bolts and continue to use a spanner - which is exactly what I did on Saterday!

It saves any potential detriment to the flange (I have seem some disintergrate when welded incorrectly - not just LR ones either) and makes swapping bolts easier should the need arise (like kerplunked theads, as mentioned).

Just a tuppence
cheers

Kenny:
Decided to replace the flange instead.
