90 rear springs

(1/3) > >>

burgerman:
Hi all, wifey has a 2001 td5 90, and has been pointed out the rear end is drooping a tad,  (the cars not hers )
was thinking of replacing the rear springs for heavy duty ones ? do a bit of towing but not that often, dont normally carry much in back either, so dont really wish to "over spring" it but obviously dont want to buy/swap over a few sets of rear springs just to see,

 Any advice please ???

P.s its completely std in drive train and still has anti roll bars fitted

Landy Andy:
Hi i have just replaced my rear springs with heavy duty ones, i changed mine to heavy duty as i carry a lot of tools, or roof tent and kit.

But sounds like you just need standard springs and would find ride harsh with HD ones.

Change dampers while doing springs makes big difference.

Saffy:
Does the 90 CSW TD5 have the BOGE unit option? (I know 110's can not sure about 90's) , anyway if boge fitted then the rear springs are made of cheese as standard, much softer than normal standard springs that would be found on a van back. When the BOGE unit fails (common) the rear end doesn't get 'pumped' and the springs can not handle it on their own.

My 110 csw sagged as low as yours due to boge failure. I could have replaced with standard duty springs, but went for standard length heavy duty and have been happy with that but may not be the choice for you guys.

I didn't think your load was that large on Sunday for that amount of sag, that why I think there may be a problem. (Unless if got a BOGE unit self leveler that pumps it up when you drive along).

kizz81:
How much do HD springs cost for a 90? mine is a county and is really bad at holding the kit needed for the trips and the body rubs on the tyres when fully laiden

cheers kieran

Landy Andy:
HD rear springs from my main dealer cost £42 each, spoke nice got my self 15% discount. Fitted Koni HD adjustable dampers £35 from Scorpion.

Hope this helps Andy
