Insurance rip off!

I insured my Landy 90 with Lancaster for the year last november at a cost of £155. I cancelled the policy on April 7th as I sold the Landy the day before. That means that I had the car insured for just slightly over 5 months and what did I get back from them - £12.77.

Now I know that there are administration costs to be covered but that is a complete rip off.

Sometimes it easier and more cost effective to transfer the insurance on to another car, even if it's one that doesn't belong to you and you may have only used on third party ins. in the past. (like I do from time to time with my Dad's Disco)

I did that too. Sold my car and wanted to cancel. Changed my insurance to TPFT for Dad's Postman Pat van and was refunded a lot more than cancelling.

£50 admin charges when i switched my insurance over,I asked them what it covered they said for printing a new certficate :doh:

Think yourself lucky, when I went to renew with them my policy had risen from £200 to £900 :shocked: with no changes. Just inflation they said, I changed insurance and then had a 9 month battle for my no claims bonus as they would not give me the year I had been with them as it is in house only (so I would have to go back to them if I wanted it) apperently this only applies if you bought the policy over the internet WHICH i DID NOT, they are *********. Luckily the insurance ombudsman was on my side and my current insurer had heard of their tactics so waited for my no claims discount without costing me anymore :D
