Wheel spacers
(1/1)
ukmudmaster:
Hi, I have a RRC with trispokes, 1,1/2" lift and 235/85/16 pirelli muds. The tyres have tread halfway up the sidewall and are the mutts nutz off road.
However....................the usual problem arises, steering lock and snagging the arches.
A cut I do not mind doing, but I do not want to lose any lock, as there is little enough now.
So.... are spacers the answer?.
I have a set of 30mm lying around the garage, just want to know the downside of fitting them please
Dave

I been told they will make steering better .
But one way to find out is to fit the ones you have and see for your self
ben_haynes:
i remember being told they can cause wheel bearing failure because of stress on them
tack43:
They don't cause wheel bearing failure, they just shorten life span. Prior to fitting check and adjust freeplay.
ian_s:
fitting 30mm spacers is no different to fitting a wheel with 30mm more offset, like a set of steel 8spokes
the problems that can happen is a failure of the metal in the spacer, or, if you fit a spacer AND wheels with a bigger offset, that can stress the bearings too much
spacers and normal wheels should be fine
