Well, first of all i need to apologise for not being on here for a while - not being able to off road the landy has kind of made me loose interest in it somewhat.

Anyhow, my wife has been climbing in through the passenger door for a month now and she's getting fed up!

Basically the door wont unlock. I've tried everything i can think of (which isnt much) - plus gas the locking mechanism, took off the panels and all the rods are connected - i just cant get the door to unlock.

Has anyone seen this before?

Is there a magic place i can drill into to release the lock?

Someone suggested that i grind off the locking pins on the door pillar so i can at least get the door open to change the lock - however, i dont think i have a grinding wheel wide enough!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Ringo

Tommo:
sounds daft but have you tried unlocking it with the dorr pull on the inside?

if it wont open with that the problem lies not with your barrell.

my dorr pull thingy used to jam. till i disconected it.

paradigm shift:
I've had most of mine do this at various times. Stuck locks, sticky push buttons, sometimes really seized solid! Usually a LOT of wd40 and some persistent screw driver levering / hammering does the trick. Nearly always because the return spring has rusted solid.

I have in the past resorted to taking off the hinges and opening from that end to break the lock with minimum damage, you then replace what breaks at the lock end.  Before you do that have a poke around all the rods, you can usually get the lock undone once you find the right one to pull.

Well, im a tad frustrated.

I put the grinder to the pin on the door pillar so i could get the door open. It was then really easy to free up the lock.

Applied loads of wd40, exercised the door lock a lot, replaced pin, shut the door and fine.

Popped out, slammed the door shut and now it wont open again.

[Edited].

Looks like im going to have to change the door lock - not the barrel, just the mechanism. And get the grinder out again.......

Hopefully find one scrap...

Thanks for your advice

Ringo
