if it was me, id be keeping the existing axle under it
it'll stand up to more abuse than the 300 axle with the smaller 24/32 spline cv joints

Any idea what the td5 axels are like?

Pretty much the same......under the Disco2 they will have different bracket on the rear; they have a Watts link rather than the a-frame.
