Starting my own business any tips?

I want to do the same thing mate. Looks like you need a tacho if the total weight of the car and trailer and load is over 3.5 tons! This means drivers hours and rest brakes.
Also check out what insurance you need... I cant work out wether its goods in transit or motor industry that is needed.... or both
Regards
Mike

Having been there and done it twice.
Cover your legal obligation.
Calculate the cost of being open.
( I had to sell £1400 worth of tools per week just to cover the over heads, bank, van etc and take £100 wage, that was in 1989)
Then consider can I ever earn big bucks by it?
A lot of self employed people often are earning less than minimum wage as they often forget all the hours they spend doing paper work, updating web site buying stock etc.
Be realistic start small, decide how much you are going to invest if it dosnt go to plan walk awayas people often throw money at a problem and loose it.
Why not keep your existing job and deliver vehicles at evenings weekends etc?
Brake cars and flog bits on internet in your spare time?
If you then see a good business give up the day job.

But is he recovery?
Or is he collectiion / delivery?
The taxation is different as is the licencing

Hi
Without sounding boring, get your Health and Safety sorted from the start as it will also couple up with some of the enviromental issues that you will have to look out for. Doing it at the start will make it a lot easier than having to do it when somebody asks for it or if you need to produce it for the HSE.
Some companies will also want to see it before offering you a contract or using your services.
If I can be any help( its my job) then give me a shout.
Cheers
Baz
