Has any one got any ideas how to up the mpg on my 95 tdi auto at the present prices I am getting about 70 miles for £20.00 about 18 litres do different air filters make a difference.I have tried to be gentle with accelerating but it doesnt make any difference. I do a varied amount of motorway and normal road driving.Maybe its just a real heavy motor .what sort of mpg is typical.
ALL the best.

that's even worse than mine!!
Since July of last year my recorded mpg has gone from 25 to a shade under 20 mpg. Mind you the air filter I took out last weekend might have something to do with that .. it was well manky [-X
sardonicus:
I did 600 miles on the motorway last weekend ,cost £90. I think thats over 30 mpg . £60 @ 112p per litre , and £30 @ 115p litre. can someone work it out ? ! That was the first time I've had a full tank ,and it feels heavy at the rear end !!
Maybe if you only half fill the tank you would get more mpg? :) like F1 cars do , weight/fuel ratio etc. :)
Thats with new air filter/oil change and some injector cleaner in the tank .
Range Rover Blues:
RRR can get 30mpg outof her TDi, about 21 MPg with the 'van on, but that was a relaxed holiday in Wales. 27 MPG is a good average on a TDi.
Best improvement I've made was new injectors, clean the intercooler and pipes, turbo etc of all that s*** that gets in there.
