Defender Td5 Revisions

(1/2) > >>

JimsMowing:
Can anyone tell me if there were any significant engine revisions made between 2000 on an X plate and 2003 on a 03 plate? I have found two possible vehicles and will most likely buy one or the other. I have driven the x plate and it was nice, but have booked myself in for a viewing this saturday for the 03.

I was wondering if they changed any of the electrical systems to help with the waterproofing or just through evolution?

Mutchos thankos.

richo:
The 03 plate will have the storm 2 ecu unit and be eu3 emission rating not sure why .Might just be a better unit. Also the earlyer td5 had a problem with the nut on the oil pump coming off and staving the engine of oil then bang...
I'm sure some who knows more will be along soon.

Range Rover Blues:
How much is the road tax on the 03 model :-k

Jimbo:
According to the DVLA website (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_10012524), the following charges apply:

Any car registered before 1/3/2001, with an engine size of over 1549cc, 12 months RFL is £185

Any car registered after 1/3/2001, gets 'banded' according to the manufacturers stated CO2 emission level:

Band E (166 - 185 g/km) £170
Band F (over 185g/km) £210 (my '52 plate Disco is in this band)
Band G (over 225g.km and reg after 23/3/06) £400 , this is the so-called 4x4 tax

However, if your vehicle (regardless of age I believe) is registered as LGV - Light Good Vehicle (my '53 plate 110 Td5 is), then you pay £180 for 12 months pleasure of driving on the roads !

There's a small bit in May's LRO (page 173) in which Neil Watterson says that the recent budget changes mean that a 2001 Td5 Disco gets a RFL increase of £250...........but there's no mention of this on the DVLA site  :?

3laner:
hardtops pay £180  :D station wagons have to pay more.
