In process of re-wiring car so may not be complete when bought but everythings there to finish the job and it doesnt effect the cars performance

Not strictly true; if he hit you they would pay your claim but he would be liable to reimburse them.

As I understand it, the insurer would pay the other partys claim but not his, as their liability to a third party is rather harder to wriggle out of.

I always wonder about the people who can't spell their listings properly. It's hardly difficult to run it through a spell checker and putting it up with errors just makes them look sloppy, not a desirable trait if they're trying to convince me to buy from them!
