Axle Breather

Hi i have got a mk1 shogun the axle breather has snapped off can anyone plz tell me if it is a must have or can i block it up with out damaging it cant find an easy way or repairing it.

your better off leaving it open, if you block it up the diff casing will pressurise and you will pop a seal or something
