Lift kit Gone Wrong
cotefarmboy:
A step by step would be ace cheers, I reckon that the rears are easier as the shocker isn't through the middle.
Rasbo:
ok..
N.B. do one spring at a time, getting squashed by a 90 is not fun
FRONT
1. take the plastic strut covers off from the engine bay, (black things on the inside arch )
2. Undo shock nuts top and bottom, recover washers...bush...etc noting the order, and remove shock
3. undo spring retainers (bottom of springs)
4. jack the front up untill ther's enough clearance to remove spring (dont forget to engage low ratio, in a low gear, apply handbrake, and chock wheels!!!!!!) personaly i'd stick a trolly jack to support chassis as well, better to be safe
5. Remove spring
You will need something to stick in place of it, i.e an old spring, if not then supprt the chassis with stands
REAR
1. undo the shock at the axel, dont bother with the top(chassis) mount
2. undo retainer (bottom of spring)
3. Jack up back
4. support chassis
5. recover spring
6. Insert the spring removed from the front, and work backwards remembering to put the rear on the front etc
7. Repeat for other side of 90
Think thats it, can be a bit tedious
If ive forgot to cover anything please add!!!!
Andy
