fitting a battery cut off/immobiliser

<< < (2/2)

Litch:
The type you need is an FIA isolator, the key is removable and when you turn it you kill the engine, isolate the battery and protect the alternator. They cost about £22 and are easy to fit as long as you can follow a simple wiring diagram. Add a low capacity fuse to support the alarm etc.
I have fitted one to each of my LR's for 20-years and they have proved to be 100% reliable.

is it for vehicle security? if so then why not a key switch that intercepts the wire from the ignition to the starter motor ? maybe wire up a connection to the horn so that if some one goes to all the effort to smash and rewire your ignition when they touch the wires it beeps the horn, or even wire up a siren inside or something
