RRC Bonnet won't open

(1/2) > >>

rrman:
For some reason my RRC bonnet won't open as it has done religiously so far.
The handle inside doesn't give like it should and the gap between the bonnet and the headlight surround has gone so it looks like the bonnet has closed too far.
Any ideas on how I can open it without breaking the bonnet cable or catch?
MOT is due next week so needs to be a quick fix!!!!

Thanks in advance

Range Rover Blues:
2 man job, you need to pull the rtelease whilst someone else jogs the bonnet up and down to try and release it.  They do sometimes catch this way, but as for closing too far I don't know.

rrman:
Thanks for the info.
Managed to open it this morning, but found that the whole engine is now a lovely brown colour after taking a mud run a little too fast last weekend!

Anybody know any good / cheap way of cleaning it?
There's a guy near Orpington who is charging £20 for a steam clean.

Any better ideas people??

Range Rover Blues:
I just leave mine TBH, it'll soak up any oil seeping out and doesn't do any harm really.

Otherwise jet wash it, steam can do more harm than good.

jjsaul:
i'd pressure wash it first (i usually do it with it running, and just avoid getting the air intake wet, so when it cuts out you know which bit to WD40  )
then if you want it cleaner try gunk or something similar then pressure wash again, i keep meaning to do mine, once its clean its so much easier to work on.
