Cherokee 2.5TD DIY Servicing Advice

Cherokee:
Hello guys,

Had the new off road toy a couple of weeks now, took the time to have a general look at possible future issues if not serviced and what to service...!

How easy is DIY servicing on the above model, i.e need to change oil and filter, air filter, plugs and replace coolant and poss fuel filter/diff oil checks..? as no service history so do not know when last service was done and if i am off roading in it a lot, i want to make sure it is well serviced on the basics.

Or should I just get a local mechanic/garage to do a first baseline service of all service items then pickup myself therafter..?

thanks in advance

It's very easy to do :D - also there is no need to jack it up to get under it.

You will not need any plugs - it's a diesel

Also don't forget to grease all of the nipples :)

Glow plugs...?

unless its a bad cold starter you wont need to change the glow plugs :)just oil, fuel and air filter(and oil of course)

thanks for that...Is it worth doing the coolant as well in case of cylinder head problems...?

Was going to put new plugs in took a couple of turn overs this morning, I had to tighten injectors as I had a diesel leak after my off road antics......so I will see how it starts next time and if all is okay will just do all the filters and oil ..!
