Sharpshooter:
Hi All. I need new brakes for my Disco. Its a 1992 200Tdi with Alisport Full width intercooler and Insa Dakar tyres. What do i go for as a replacement. I have seen the new Britpart Drilled and grooved and EBC Greenstuff which i like the look of.

Waht do you think??

Cheers.

hi mate, i personally wouldn't recomend drilled, groved or even ventilated discs as mud and other cr'p gets stuck in the holes and groves, it will wear down your pads in no time. stick with good solid discs.

Good thinking. Didnt think of that. :)

Range Rover Blues:
Dissagree, grooved disks will wear your pads a bit more, but dust and dirt aren't really a problem, no more than normal.

However running on EBC disks and pads has given me better braking performance, the grooves help maintain that performance by preventing the pads glazing over.

You can do the whole car for a little over £200, it cost me that for the front end of my Cavalier.  Don't even ask what the Micra costs

I've got grooved and drilled discs on the font of my 97 300Tdi with standard pads ~ stops like you've hit a brick wall  ~ No! I didn't believe that either

It does stop pretty good though and I haven't noticed any shortening of the pad life due to mud and crap getting into the discs.
