Range Rover Blues:
Is it 1 long then 2 short? is that follwed by a very long silence?

It might be that the codes are different, but there will always be a 'start up' code which IIRC is 1 long, 1 or 2 short before the fault code :-k  so it may be you are looking at a 'blank' memory now.

The good news is that OBDII should be readable by any garage equipment, not just a main stealer.

skip:
It's cheaper to buy an OBDII reader from ebay. Beats paying £30-40 every time you want it plugged in.

There are loads of different ones to look at.

RRB,

Nah, its definately a 1:2 code - it follows the short/long series that comes with every code and is followed by those again to end with.

\skip,  I might just look into one of those.  I have to pull the sump off and re-seal it then change the RH tracta seal so I've got enough to do for now.  I'm going to add a new ABS warning lamp relay to my shopping list as I have more problems when its cold and switching the ign off and on gets teh lamp to stay out 99% of the time so to be sure I'm gonna swap the warning lamp relay so I can discount it (I've used the similar green relay in the same location and I get less problems with that so I may well be on the right track with that - its just annoying that I cant seem to get any meaninfull codes out of the thing!

Ho hum, If I wasnt doing this I'd be bored on my 2 weeks off now wouldn't I..........

Range Rover Blues:
It might be worth a code reader then as another thing I remember is that Rovacom gives up different interpretations of the codes than the blink test, sometimnes in more detail.
