Please Help, BF Goodrich Tyers?????!!!!!!

--- Quote from: clbarclay on March 18, 2008, 20:54:52 ---I would recomend fitting a minimum 32" high tyres (eg 235/85R16 or 265/75R16 etc) if possible for off roading. These are standard size on most 90s, resulting in a lot of the ruts ending up accordingly deep.
A simple camel cut at the back of the rear aches can be very subtle and still allow enough room for a 235/85.

i would like the bfg muds but am concered about the mileage and am still interested in getting ATs but just don't know enough as yet to make a decision. I am going to be using them for serious off-roading and greenlaning so any advice on that would be a great help, cheers.

Hi
I can't see any reason why you would not get upwards of 20K out of BFG MT's. You would probably get a lot more.
I think from what you are saying you should go MT's for sure. If you get AT's you will probably regret it.
You could also consider the Cooper STT's as some rate these as being good in the mud also and hard wearing.
Range Rover Blues:
235/85 will fit a 2" lifted RRC no problems. On disco you will need the slightest cut at the back, or to tub the bottom of the arch slightly. if you don't do it, the tyres will do it for you
A/T are damn good but given how the hadling will change anyway I'd say why not go for M/T
Hightower:
I run BFG 265/75R16 MTR's on my D2. They have been fitted now for nearly 3 years and still have plenty of tread left. The outer edges are a bit scuffed and rounded but that is down to the weight of the car and the way I throw it around corners. Noise form the MTR's is not intrusive and the handling is not bad at all.
When they wear out I will be swapping them for BFG AT's only because I am changing to 18" rims and they don't do an MTR in that size :(
CNorman:
I had my 300tdi Disco on BFGoodrich muds and drove miles on them! They were quiet, smooth and the handling on dry roads was exactly the same as on road tyres.
The only time you would notice the Muds is on very wet, glossy, roads and even then you would know you were going to fast!
I would buy the mud terrains all day long. When my AT2's have finished on my GV i will change to MT's on that and it is my daily driver to work etc.
