Does the 200tdi have an EGR valve???

Sort of....

But even under part throttle conditions, you will still notice the effects of Exhaust Gad going back into the engine.  

EGR is ok (ish) until it goes wrong, which is common on 300 and Td5's... the crud (nice technical) prevents the solenoid closing correctly and making an air tight gap... so a percentage of exhaust is allowed to pass back into the air intake all of the time.  Apart from being bad for performance (reduced burn rates etc etc) which will lead to increased MPG, the main problem is the effects of used exhaust gas and it's contents on the engine.  There has been a lot of research and SAE papers that highlight the problem of increased bore wear amoung other problems.

The other main problem is if high sulpher diesel is used.. as this can make matters worse - hence why RoW spec 300Tdi's and Td5's do not the EGR system connected.
