need help, any ideas
pegleg66:
got a 200 tdi disco, replaced head gasket, drove home and cambelt went, replaced cambelt, tensioner and idler, also replaced 6 out of the 8 pushrods, which were bent. I've check the timing, all ok there, on tickover it runs smooth, however take it for a drive, it smokes black smoke out of the exhaust, takes a while to reach a speed of about 50mph, the turbo doesn't feel as if its performing quite right and sounds intermittently with a squeal ( not a turbo whistle) also losing oil ( small amount)out of the area around the actuator, not the mushroom top but the bottom of the arm, please help, running out of ideas.
bilge rat:
think there is a return feed from the turbo to the sump in that area, might be worth checking that, as for the noise ?. iff its not boost, turbo brg ?. why is it with landys start 1 job and end up with three more. hope you sort it .. alan..
Range Rover Blues:
Sounds a bit like it's overfuelling. Is the intercooler and piping all ok, not blocked at all?
I'd be putting a boost guage on it and checking the turbo is spinning up.
pegleg66:
top and bottom pipes from the intercooler are replacement parts ( main body pipe is metal with silicon pipe joints) so not collapsing.
also clean out intercooler out with paraffin, dried out completely before refitting
Range Rover Blues:
Boost guage then, see what's happening.
