this is so true i took mine out last week and snapped three and had to weld a thin bar the the bit of bolt left in the hole and the heat off the weld worked a treat to loosen them up

I just had mine out this morning....

J reg 5 door V8....

slide the seats all the way backward, then use a T40 torx bit to undo the rear seat-to-runner bolts, one on each side

slide the seat all the way forward to allow access to the front seat-to-runner bolts, again, one each side

Total of 4 bolts out and you can lift the seat out, once the seat is removed, you'll be able to access the runner-to-frame bolts, use the same bit to remove these if you need to, otherwise bolt your new seats straight to the runners.

Just a couple of points, it helps if your either a contortionist or have a small child handy for the 'inboard' bolts, as they are not the easiest to get to.  If you need to remove the runners, make a mental note/take a pic of which way round they go, other wise a five minute job becomes a 30 minute job while you try and figure out which way they were....

You dont need to remove the frame from the car to remove the seats, and it is probably best to them in anyway as I think the nut under the car is loose and would need a second person to hold it, unless you have really long arms.

And finally, if you intend on fitting Rangie front seats to your Disco, make sure that the distance between the runners is the same before you take the old seat out....

(They're not, by the way, now I need to fabricate an adapter to fit my 'new' seats')

To save me a job - what are the measurementsfor the RR to disco? as I am fitting RR seats into my 3 door

To be honest I didn't measure them after taking the seats out either, but I can tell you the Rangie runners are wider apart than the Disco ones   ;)

I just put the front seats back in the shed and went ahead with changing the rear seats..much easier
