steering damper

(1/1)

benbenukuk:
Hi, what will the advantage of getting a uprated steering damper be over the std one I have on my rrc, I read somewhere that you need one if you fit bigger tyres? thanks.  Ben

Guardian.:
i have just changed mine, buy a standard genuine one, the uprated is total tosh, they are normally gass filled and this makes you drift to the left slightly as its always pushing 1 way as opposed to just damping in both directions.
cant wait o see the replies to this one. :D

Pete:
As Guardian says. Stick with the standard item.

And IIRC you don't have castor correction :-k

I found the same on ours, fit a gas damper and it pulled to the right so I fitted a HD oil only damper (can't remember but it might have been a Gabriel).  Once I fitted castor correction I found that a gas pressurised damper made no difference to the handling.
