near as dammit. it might be a 4-4-2 but i know little of oldsmobiles so i couldnt tell frm that pic. very nice car.

Spot on. 1972.
Its my cousin's ex car, sold it last year as the block was cracked for $500 !!!!.
Unfortunately he lives in Seattle so was not able to purchase, but I did get a go in it in 2001.

Even fairly recent Citroens seem to have faded from view. The ZX and Xantia for example were once fairly common cars. Now I might see a couple in a week if I'm lucky.

Had a ZX as my first car. 1.9D. It was a bit of an animal as although it didn't have much power it had a lot of torque and no power steering, so it'd fight you all the time in slow corners!

No an XKSS was based on the D-Type they converted a few to a road cars (120 of them I believe).

Try 16 :shock:  that's right they got as far as finishing 16 of the beauties before the factory burned down along with all the jigs, tooling and finished bodies they had.

Streve McQueen had one when it was new, he sold it after a couple of years and regretted it so much he bought it back for many times it's sale price but he never got it finished.  After his death the car was sold by his estate at auction for $147,000 in 1983 (ish) so lord alone knows what they are worth now.

Some poor sod was running his in a classic car rally and a dizzy bird backed her SUV into it.  I bet the insurance had kittens.

Not as rare as XK13 or quite as good looking either

 a 1 of I believe was intended for Le-Man 24hour but they change rules so jaguar withdrew the car was used later for a press review when first show the V12 E-Type in 1972 not sure of detail but driver lost control and died as a result. tThe car was rebuild for the Jaguar Museum and later the stylist had it in the studios when styling the XK220.

I believe that was the first incarnation of it to come over here?

There was an old chap driving it, looked the type to have had it since new

we just took in a mazda 121(i think) b reg done 20,000 from new, and only one owner from new (recently Passed away, along with a Ford Orion D reg 1.6 XR3i engine no owners from new, sat on forcourt since being registered and didnt turn a wheel untill the trader retired, drove it home garaged it (at his Dads, who owned the Mazda) and had to get rid of them and the house due to needing the money for burial of his dad

Thos week I've seen a Rover 2000.....k Reg Daimler Soverign and I think a Vauxhall Firenze lifted at the back with possibly a Yank engine in it as per early 1970's custom car... :afro:

I cant afford to die!!! what happens if your familys skint? surely the council will ket rid of you for free? not seen a section for corpses at the local tip.

That's nothing compared to a US funerla, but it is getting expensive.  The again it does come out of your estate before the tax man pops round to go through your drawers, so what the hell, My last ride will be in a Rolls ;)

here a couple of mine me vittesse was great and me tr i put a v8 in it 3.08 rear axle slightly tuned used to run 15 second 1/4 mile . do miss them ....alan....
