Towing an Automatic ?

(1/3) > >>

Muddyblue:
Meant to ask on a previous thread , what are the problems with towing an auto ? , I just assume , neutral and take it steady ? , can't have engine running (no radiator) so braking / steering will be hard I know .
Cheers

Bunnie:
u have to take the wheels off the ground that drive the car as it were because it winds the gearbox and thus if it winds up it will have a hissy fit and throw oil everywhere.

Muddyblue:
Thanks for that , normally drive a manual and it's been a long while since any need to fix an auto ! .

Towing a 4x4 auto?

I think even in neutral you can end up with gearbox problems due to oil not being pumped around, my advice would be to remove a propshaft (or read the manual). Probably the one going to the wheels left on the road, not sure if using a bar or something though.

BK:
yup,propshaft off,same as a truck
