well im guessing an aftermarket galv chassis is cheaper than one from LR, but mates have had chassies blasted for £80 and then galved for £100. personally you couldnt pay me £100 to get under there and waxoyl the thing! especially not once a year. As for a galv chassis not lasting any longer than a new one they have surface rust within a few months, and it gets worse from then. a galv chassis will not see rust for years and years and when the galvanising finally gives up you still have the 15yrs left that a normal chassis does.
But how many people when buying an old landy worry about rust??? for the competant DIYer everything is dead easy and cheap to fix except a new chassis. people pay well over the odds for somthing which is galved. plus if it was built on a galv chassis it shows that the person building it was wanting to do a quality job, not just tarting it up to sell on for a profit.
