or you could make up a bracket out of a piece of flat bar and bend it round the battery top and drill hole each end and use original pins

That would work, but my theory only needs a pair of mole grips and a hammer

Ratchet strap a good idea though

 even though when fitted my battery clamp is about a inch to short in height and depth to clamp it down ???

been back to the shop and made sure i bought the right one even took in the clamp with me to measure and it wont fit even the standard battery they say is made to "original equipment spec" odd innit

so now ive gotta make a new clamp some how

96p for a battery  no wonder it didn't fit

Perhaps you meant pounds, well the one I bought for the TD5 was only £4 more and they fitted it - you might as well go OE for all the messin' about you've got with clamps etc.

you should have gone and spent 10more of your pennys and got the td5 one. It just fits in the space and turns the engine over much faster. It is what I did last winter.

Cable ties. just join a few together and make a continuous loop out of them. It is fiddly getting your hand in but both my cars have cable ties for a battery clamp and gone through 3 mot's like it so far and not a prob. The landy clamp has a bit of metal that is in the way. could always saw it off?
