belt or gear
Xtremeteam:
right, hopefully u can all help me with my bit o a dilemma,im putting a td engine in2 my new 90 & i have a set of zeus timing gears that i was gonna use to replace the belt,i have been told by different people to keep the belt as u get more power & go for the gears for reliability, some help would be appriciated

If you have the Zeus bits, I'd stick them in... fit and forget.
I wouldn't buy them if I didn't have them... they are bloomin expensive.
LOFTY:
Well, the idea with the gears is that the machining of keyways on them is more accurate than that of the belt pulleys. So the timing should be spot on. Anybody whos fitted a cam belt knows, it is always a bit out to line the teeth up.
Thats why some V8 engines go like hell, and the next one of the assembly line is flat, cam keyway a degree out, gear a degree out, etc, etc.
But that said, still check timing is correct with gears.
All IMHO.
Skywalker:
IMHO the gears have got to be the way to go, possibility of a nad's more power compared to not having to worry about a cam belt don't even come close.
Range Rover Blues:
Surely the cam timing and fuel pump timing must be adjustable on either the gears or the belt, so set up properly the gears should be the way to go, like the man says, fit and forget.
