Sorn & MOT
joe90:
May be easier to trailer it!
Good job the MOT station also rectify any faults I get!
Thanks for that lads
Mighty_zuke:
One of my mates was stopped with no tax or MOT ont he way to a test center. He replied to a letter he sent saying he was on his way to the MOT center for a pre booked test and ended up with a court case. He pleaded guilty and the judge basically told the copper he was a numpty! So if you do have trouble with it, you are perfectly within your rights!
hobbit:
As said above, make sure its pre-booked with the vehicle make, model and registration to be sure, along with your name and contact number, then if stopped they can call the mot station and confirm these details are written down in the book
Another thing is insurance, this can be a bit more of a problem, have a look in past posts about this topic, you can insure a vehicle without tax or test
Range Rover Blues:
My insurance for my classic fords says specifically that I can take them for test, even if they are insured as "layed up". You have to have the thing pre-booked at the test centre and take it to/from within a reasonable period ie the same day, or last thing the night beofore for an early test. I heard of someone getting doen for collecting the car the day after, I think it was on a Capri forum :-k
If you don't have tax, keep the MOT sheet in case a summons arrives fro driving an untaxed vehicle. Just because they have access to the data doesn't mean they check it (the police not only know your car failed the MOT but know what it failed for now  big brother is watching you).
