whining noise

The noise now seems to go when the clutch is in, Its a new clutch and thrust bearing about 500 miles ago, does the T-box stop rotating once the clutch is depressed?

THAT WILL BE THE BEARING IN DE CLUTCH THEN, MINE  did that with a new one in too, very anoying, but luckily the new engine i had fittedhad to come out and they stuck another new one on and its cured it.

Everything stops from the clutch backwards, provided the car isn't moving.

It could well be the thrust bearing, perhaps it's not fully lined up yet, or perhaps it's duff.
