new tank level indicator.

I have converted my disco to run on veg oil. Everything is going lovely except 1 thing. I dont when my tank is ful up now when I am pooring veg oil in. I dont want to overfill it as it says on the cap "DO NOT OVERFILL" yet I would like to know when I am at the top of the tank.

I was wondering if there is anyway of fitting another level indicator with a little led light bulb that would come on hidden behind the filler flap so as i fill the veg oil up, when i get to full it comes on and i stop.

I have fitted one to my new diesel tank in the boot, but that is plastic to drill. Can I drill a new hole in my veg oil tank?

any ideas welcome.

Yes you can........

new veg oil tank being my old diesel tank.

Hmm, might be worth looking into  further then.

Firstly not such an issue if you overfill with veg oil as it's much safer and easier to clean up.

Secondly, you're putting a sender into the OE tank under the boot yes? why not just put a switch into the fuel tank guage feed so that you can check either tank at the dashboard?

At the moment I have a level indicator in my new diesel tank which lights up a red led when I am getting low on diesel. So having the level indicator on the dash showing either tank isnt such an issue.

My thoughts about this is my guage only rises when I put the ignition on and moves very slowly. If I tap into that wiring will the guage move slower than the speed i fill my tank and will the light come on soon enough when it is filled. Also, how do I make the led come on only when it is full?
