Rear stub axles.....

Right, Disco 1, 10 spline metric axles cases....... i'm about to fit new stub axles and bearings, i have bought new 'locking' rings.... which go between the stub axle and the actual axle case.... can anyone tell me the purpose of these rings..... cos i'm blowed if i can see what they're there for......

gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

The only thing that should be in that gap is the gasket.  You will find a pressed steel ring that goes under the heads of the bolts, AFAIK it stops big bits of mud getting in, it should just fit inside the brake disk hub.

Other than that, I don't know off hand.

Thanks, yeh, on the bag it comes in they call it a mud sheild, however for some reason i was calling it a locking ring, i questioned it, cos thinking it was a locking ring, i wondered why mine weren't tabbed over as in a locking tab....
